Working Dog Initiative advances public safety by providing police K9s to agencies at no cost, supporting K9 teams through ongoing training, and empowering underserved youth through hands-on workforce training and mentorship.
What We Do

Youth Opportunity & Diversion
Young people ages 16–24 gain hands-on experience with dogs, career skills, and mentorship through a structured program designed to open new paths forward.
K9 Team Development
We support police handlers and their K9 partners through ongoing training designed to strengthen teamwork and operational readiness.
Our First Pilot
Building the foundation for our first pilot.
WDI is building the funding and partnerships needed to launch its first pilot across police K9 placement, youth workforce development, and K9 team training.

Our Founding Story
Why we started Working Dog Initiative
Co-founders Markus Galmore and Jeremy Sebree started Working Dog Initiative with a shared purpose: help agencies access the K9 support they need while opening doors for underserved young people. In Greater St. Louis, WDI is building programs that bring together no-cost police K9 placement, ongoing team training, and hands-on youth mentorship.
